Bring fobbed off by the doctors. Such a stupid system if I wanted to get a doctor to diagnosis me over the phone I would call 111. One doctor told me to take my baby off a medication without even seeing her and then she got worse. Turns out she had an issue that no one had thought of and these are doctors? My HV found it right away. Bad system and it annoys me we have to use a doctors in our area.

If it has been deemed that a phone back service is more effective than booking an appointment then there should be adequate staffing to answer the switchboard. 23 minutes on hold to book a smear test is ridiculous. I very nearly hung up (I have a toddler to look after and can’t be sat in the phone) however I know it’s important to make the booking. Prior to this phone procedure I have never had anything negative to say about the practice- always made appointments with ease and found all staff to be pleasant. Now though I dread having to make contact due the long wait times on the phone- God help me if I need to call regarding a concern with my young child (you can imagine a parent in distress will not be out at ease by waiting on the end of a phone for the promise of a phone call later and that’s if they get through). I would probably drive to the surgery to talk to someone at the desk which is ridiculous but that’s how I felt using the new service. Shame as prior to this everything was working well I found. Please staff the switchboard accordingly because the patient is being put last here

The telephone prior face to face consultation if required takes away the anxiety of getting an appointment at a time to suit my work commitments. It’s annoying when in the past I’ve heard patients say they need to see a GP urgently then fuss around when an appointment is offered but it doesn’t suit them. This Surgery has always provided care and support when my family have needed it. For the NHS to still be there for future generations people must accept that limited resources are inevitable and that if a cough mixture, paracetamol and other over the counter meds are available patients of any age should not expect a prescription for these items, it costs £15 for the NHS to provide paracetamol whilst it can be purchased for as little as 40p .... Thank you to all staff who want to provide a very good service to all in the community

I have been a patient at this surgery for over 30 years and have always been very happy with the quality of care and professionalism provided by the doctors and staff until earlier this year when I found I had to wait two weeks to get an appointment. Since then the new system that has been put in place to get a return phone call from a doctor and discussion over the phone with an appointment, if it is needed, on the same day to be excellent service. This has certainly worked for me on several occasions. I can only thank everyone for being so forward looking and taking on major changes like this that enhance the provision for us all and enable us to get to quality care, support and help very quickly.

I had my first experience of the new phone system for appointments this week. The introduction from Dr Cureton was clear and concise, and everything that followed worked like clockwork. I spoke to reception and outlined my problem. They promised a Doctor would ring me back to discuss my situation and within two hours I had spoken to a GP who was familiar with my case, was given a same day appointment, and found myself in her surgery. All within two hours. She explained my issue and the treatment that was appropriate. . An hour later I was seen by a nurse, who provided the necessary bandages. A further programme was set out to inspect the wound and replace the bandages. Followed by further supporting tests. We have been with the Practice since 1975, and the care we have received has been outstanding. We are very lucky, particularly as in my case (at 80) my last twenty years have been difficult with two severe illnesses.
